 Programs: Focused Monitoring Indicators

The focused monitoring process utilizes data from the Accountability Data System (ADS) to rank school districts on the focused monitoring indicators and to make district selections for monitoring. There are four key indicators identified by a statewide group of stakeholders that cover the most important compliance issues as well as measurable aspects of educational benefit.

The key indicators are:

  1. Least restrictive environment, emphasizing inclusion of students with disabilities in regular classes to the maximum extent appropriate with access to the general education curriculum.
  2. Identification and evaluation of students with disabilities, emphasizing possible over-identification of students as learning disabled .
  3. Participation and Performance of students with disabilities on statewide assessments of educational development.
  4. Graduation of students with disabilities.
